Born in a Bosnian village near Sarajevo. As a 20-year-old he moved to Munich, where he spent three years. After his return to Yugoslavia in 1976 he studied pedagogy at the University of Belgrade and has been a guest student at the Academy of Fine Arts.
1980 he returned to Munich and, as a second stage of qualification, he took up studying art therapy. Accompanied by a boundless passion for painting and a sparkling enthusiasm for the rising image he works quickly, mainly at night, highly concentrated for hours and always in movement. He walks for miles up and down in his studio, willing to understand his painting from all perspectives, until it satisfies his aesthetically feelings.
In this process he feels like a composer, hearing a whole orchestra in his head, deciding which instrument he has to highlight, intensify or reduce, to get a result in a harmonious view of the whole.
It’s also a game: he is placing blobs of paint or shadows, tries and approaches.
Every painting is a test and a serious fight - and not always succeeding. But he learned not to judge immediately about the success of a painting. Learned by experience he found out, that he falls in love with his works in the creation process too much, and that this love sometimes can make blind...
His motor is his passion and emotionality, the desire of creating and playing. Milan Mihajlovic does not want his art to be overloaded with theories, his position is radical: art is no philosophy, there is nothing behind it! Every painting is what you see, not more, not less. No secrets, no myths.
